HPS board member Carmen “Liz” Diaz, her son Adam and an army of family, friends and supporters gathered for a night of Zumba and fundraising, March 5th. Attendees, who each gave a $20 donation at the door, were treated to four hours of Zumba music, dancing and several special performances.
The evening raised approximately $3,000 for the HPS Network.
The evening was held at Li Greci’s Staaten on Staten Island and was sponsored by not only Li Greci’s, but also Bubbles Playhouse and Hi-Nrg Sound Productions. Elaine Gil of Bubbles Playhouse masterminded the event.
Twelve Zumba instructors from the tri-state area around Staten Island donated their time to be on hand to demonstrate and help newcomers.
Zumba combines aerobic exercise and Latin dancing for a great work out. It’s an exercise trend that is catching on around the country.
Carmen, (Liz) Diaz says she hopes the event will become an annual affair.
