I have had a few questions sent my way, and I know the Oyster Bay office has had a few calls - so I'm posting this as a point of clarification. I've been super busy and so haven't had a chance to be as involved on the NOAH boards or the Albinism International yahoo group etc. If any of you are spending any time in those places, I'd appreciate it if you'd help pass the word along so everyone gets the info they need.
The HPS Network and NOAH New York co-locate our conferences. It's a great deal for us both. They get the benefit of our contract with the hotel and we can often share speakers. But, they are two different conferences.
If you're coming to the Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome Network conference, you need to be registered in advance with the HPS Network. If you intend to attend the NOAH New York conference, you need to be registered with them. Their conference is just a day-long thing and not a weekend-long thing. They also don't have sessions on HPS - just albinism.
The price for the two conferences is different so make sure you're registered for the event you plan to attend.
Every year it seems there's someone who is confused about the dinner Saturday night. This is not part of the NOAH New York conference. It is part of the HPS Conference. NOAH New York members are more than welcome to join us for the big party - but if you plan to come and you're not registered for the HPS Conference, you need to contact the HPS Network office and let us know, as well as send us $45 for the dinner.
This year it is costing us $45 a head - so we need to make sure we have everyone covered. We also want to have as accurate a head count as possible so we don't pay for unused dinners, or end up short.
Thanks for your understanding and help with this issue.
