This is a recipe I got from my mom. The cookies are a hit every time.
Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookies
Susan Kirkwood
These cookies are awesome. You can also freeze them and then put them in the microwave for 30 seconds and they taste and smell like they just came out of the oven. That way you can save them for a special treat.
Ingredients
2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 ½ cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips (You can also use M&Ms)
Method
Cream shortening, butter and sugars together. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add them to the creamed mixture and mix well. Fold in chocolate chips. Chill for one hour or the batter will run all over the cookie sheet when you bake the cookies. Drop using a 1/4th cup onto the cookie sheet about 1 and ½ inches apart. (Make sure the cookie sheet is greased.) Bake for 13 to 15 minutes at 375 degrees. Adjust the time as you need to for your oven. The cookies should look a golden brown. Cook for five minutes before you try to remove the cookies from the cookie sheet.
