A nice dent in the 100 People Search

Oh my, I forgot to update the blog on this last week! So far we’ve had five new HPS families found or diagnosed as a result of the Florida outreach efforts. That’s not counting the families that came to the outreach event that we’d lost because they’d moved and not updated their contact information. That’s not bad. We’re now at 88 on the 100 People Search, and there are a number of families currently testing.

Good work Florida!

I guess this post is "good news," as far as outreach is considered. My heart always breaks a little, though, because I think about the families whose lives are about to change forever...with the result of one blood test their world has been turned upside down. And then I pray for them, hoping they know the Lord or have people that can point them to Him. He is the only one that will give them strength for the hard journey the are about to embark.

I know exactly what you mean, but look at it this way. If they've got HPS, they've got it. Better to know so that they can get early intervention and treatment than to suffer with the docs. not knowing what's up. Or even worse, to make a mistake that causes them to bleed and maybe even have a life-threatening experience. I hate it when families get this news, but I just remind myself how worse off they'd be not knowing at all. And, some forms of HPS aren't as bad as what you and I have experienced.
