One of the activities that takes place at most medical meetings are the scientific poster sessions. I like to think of them as a science fair for grown-ups. I did manage to make several of the poster sessions presented at the American Thoracic Society, and while there see Dr. Young and Dr. Gutentag and the posters they were presenting on HPS.
Above are some pictures of the poster sessions so you can get an idea of what they’re like as well as a picture of Dr. Gutentag standing next to her poster.
The challenge to me with these poster sessions is to not get in the way of the scientists. I so much want to read them, but it isn’t like I’m carrying the information back to some lab. I just want to know what’s going on in the pulmonary fibrosis research world, what the thinking trends are etc. So the challenge is to stay out of everyone’s way. I really wish I’d had time to go back and look at some of these posters when the crowds weren’t so thick.
