Christmas shopping for the cure

Because I haven’t been able to get out much this holiday season and do my holiday shopping, I’ve done more shopping online this season than ever before. And, just to get a plug in here, I was able to find all of my gifts through the mall at www.igive.com so that the HPS Network gets a percentage of the money I spent (albeit admittedly tiny.)

So, if anyone else is doing the last-minute shopping thing online, this is just a reminder that you can shop at igive. Some of the stores I’ve visited in my holiday shopping are: Toys’r’Us, JCPenny, Target, Staples, Coldwater Creek, Eddie Bauer and Barns&Noble.

So, shop, ‘er, click till you drop!

Fortunately, I was able to use iGive for one gift. I wish it could have been more, but I found the other gifts at local stores when I was out. However, I have iGive bookmarked and I plan to use them in the future. I even have the little popup toolbar that tells me when I'm shopping at an iGive store. Yay!

Thanks for letting us know about iGive and other ways to help the HPS Network. In addition, can you please give us Family Conference information sometime? I received the form and I really need to register....just so much to do. However, maybe you could tell us a little more about it or your favorite highlights for those who don't know about it or are planning to attend but haven't gone in previous years. Just a thought... :-)

Hi Heather we have ordered some items from igive.com and as of today we have made $6.42 for HPS. This is a real good way to make money fast for HPS, so all that read this site sign up and watch the money come in. igive emails mail you almost daily and at the bottom of email is the amount you have made for HPS.

The next generation with Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome

I'm so behind on posting about the trip to Puerto Rico. Since the episode of Mystery Diagnosis on Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome ran right after we got home, it's been a little busy. These, however, are my favorite pictures from Puerto Rico. I know, not pretty senery etc - but these little guys and gals inspire me. They are the next generation of folks with HPS, and if we keep up the hard work, they will live better lives because of it. They motivate me.

Help for one of our newest HPS friends

As many of you know, I have a google alert set up for all sorts of key terms like albinism, pulmonary fibrosis etc. The following was posted on the blog of a friend of Melanie's. Melanie is one of our newest members of the Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome family. Unfortunately, like so many she didn't know she had HPS and the lung disease sort of snuck up on her. Melanie will be 26 years old next week. Perhaps some of us would like to contribute to the fund set up to help her and her family for her birthday.
