Irritated with eBay

I’m hoping maybe some of my blog readers – some of whom I know are eBay users – might be able to help me out. For the second time I have received an e-mail through eBay about someone upset with me for not sending something they’ve paid for etc.

The thing is I’ve never even tried to sell anything on eBay. I don’t think I even have an account with them. A few years ago I was curious and spent a few hours browsing – not sure if I ever actually signed up or not.

I’m getting highly annoyed because these are not spam e-mails. They seem to be coming directly from eBay and link back to the eBay site.

But try reporting fraud on eBay’s site if you’ve never even been guilty of using it. The security center has a zillion links for identity theft, none of which tell me how to find out if someone is passing themselves off as me on eBay. I really don’t have the time to spend hours trying to figure out how to contact this company and report the situation and make sure my good name is cleared.

What if, for example, I wanted to sell some crafts from the craft bank on eBay? I’m going to be considered a crook if someone else is out there pretending to be me.

This is really getting under my skin.

Any suggestions?

eBay is pretty highly targeted for Spam. I've seen some eBay Spam that definitely looked like legit e-mails but weren't. If you don't even have an eBay account, my guess is that's whats happening. But eBay has horrific customer service, so it's probably not worth trying to report. :(

Actually, two things come to mind here:

1. It might ACTUALLY BE spam, eventhough it links back to the site. If you don't have an account there, there would be no way of the seller even knowing about you. You can even log into your Ebay account and look at your feedback - if you don't have an account, the seller can't leave you feedback. Plus, if you've never sold anything, nobody can leave you feedback, because the comments, feedback is linked to the specific item the person sold.

2. If you want to sell something, all you would have to do is create a new account later when you need it. Your stats, good or bad, wont carry over to the new accunt.

Hope that helps! :)
OM software provides organization to a series of tasks that are interdependent. That series of tasks includes receiving orders, billing, shipping label creation, shipment pickup scheduling, accounting, inventory control and others. These tasks introduce, in the ecommerce business, a difficulty factor and a plethora of details that can sink even the most determined entrepreneur. The decision to streamline those tasks is related to the pain threshold of the business owner and to the need to improve the bottom line. That pain threshold is usually about six pieces of shipping each day. Learn more with List Easy

Ratner's Cheesecake

Here's another recipe from Toby! Thanks Toby......and I'll get the others posted soon! Ratner's Cheesecake and plain cookies Ratner's was a Jewish dairy restaurant in the lower East Side of Manhattan. This recipe, from my disintegrating, no longer in print Ratner's cookbook, is the closest I've ever gotten to reproducing the rich, heavy cheesecake my mother made when I was a kid. It's worth the time it takes to prepare and every last calorie. Dough Can be prepared in advance. Makes enough for two cakes. Can be frozen or used to make cookies – see recipe below. 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup shortening 1 teaspoon lemon extract 1 cup butter 2 eggs 3 cups sifted cake flour ½ teaspoon salt 2 cups all purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1. In a bowl, combine all ingredients with hands. Refrigerate 3 -4 hours, or preferably overnight. Filling (for

The next generation with Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome

I'm so behind on posting about the trip to Puerto Rico. Since the episode of Mystery Diagnosis on Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome ran right after we got home, it's been a little busy. These, however, are my favorite pictures from Puerto Rico. I know, not pretty senery etc - but these little guys and gals inspire me. They are the next generation of folks with HPS, and if we keep up the hard work, they will live better lives because of it. They motivate me.

Some good news about Pirfenidone

Below is a press release from Intermune, the company that makes Pirfenidone. They have essentially reviewed the various clinical trials going on, and decided that Pirfenidone is safe and well tolerated. That would pretty much go along with what we've observed in the HPS community as well. We have a few folks that have been on the drug since the late 90s and continue to do well. Of course, as a journalist, I do have to say consider the source - but at the same time, as someone in a Pirfenidone trial, it's good to know.
