Living on the frontlines

The HPS Network Puerto Rico manned a table at the Convention of Pediatricians of Southwest Puerto Rico directly after the HPS Network Puerto Rico Conference. More than 500 pediatricians from around the island were on hand for the event. Ivette Vazquez ran the table and spoke with the doctors about Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome and the HPS Network. The Network has already been invited to return for next year’s event. 

The HPS Network exhibited at the Mount Sinai Inflammatory Bowel Disease Consultants Course in September. Several hundred greater New York area gastrointestinal physicians attended the event. Donna and Ashley Appell manned the exhibit table. Their goal was to make physicians more aware of Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome, and possibly even interest a potential GI researcher. “We had a lot of people stop by the booth interested to learn more about HPS,” says HPS Network President Donna Appell, “We were invited back next year, and we definitely plan to go.” 

Today we added another new HPS'er to the patient registry - that puts us at 82 to go for this year's Hundred People Search. 

Yeida Soto and Carmen Camacho were guests on the radio program ¡Tertulia! on Sunday, Sept. 16th, 2012. The duo explained HPS to the radio audience, and Yeida shared her diagnosis story. The program is broadcast all over New England and features Latino music, cultural events and news. 

Today we added a new HPS'er to the patient registry. We're now at 83 to go! I know I haven't been posting   much on the blog. It's just been so busy!
