Megan Long ran the Calgary Xterra 70.3 Ironman in honor of the Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome Network this past July. Long doesn’t have any friends or family with HPS, but she became inspired after hearing a lecture by Donna Appell during her genetics rotation at Montefiore Children’s Hospital. Long is in her last year of medical school. “Donna Appell stole my heart with her devotion to her daughter, her perseverance, and her dedication and insight into affecting change in the world,” says Long.
The race its self included a 1.2-mile swim, 58-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile (half marathon) run.
Hats off and thank you!
